You may notice a few things about this one: a) no egg; b) no broth; c) random furikake. I'm not saying it was bad, because it was super tasty. It just wasn't what I was expecting from katsudon. I also saw this sign at the lunch sushi place:
which ruined my plan to get unagidon instead. I'd heard something about this on NPR yesterday, with a statement to the effect that unagi has spiked like 200% recently, due to problems with the baby harvest (they catch wild baby eel, and then raise them on farms until lunchtime maturity). I hope this isn't a permanent thing, as unagi is one of my favorite things.
Ok, let's catch up on piles of links!
- Oh, hello, art deco!
- I'm tempted to get this, but I'd just make a workaround (store an empty box of something next to the bed).
- I now want heat sensitive tiles in my bathroom.
- Squirrels!
- I saw the original image, and was going to post it when I had nothing else to show, but there are news stories about it now: pizza with crust stuffed with hot dog.
- Fuck you, Verizon. Just before I upgrade my phone, too.
- Pretty much the best comic I've seen this week.
- Ordinary Batman Adventures is hilarious, and it's disappointing when talentless hacks bitch that it's copying their shitty comics. A) no one has heard of your crap. B) I may not be able to draw, but I don't make pseudo- 80's indie b&w comics and put them where people can see them. C) Don't be a dick. Edit to add: wait, his main character has four fingers. How do you give someone the middle finger if you only have four?
- This is the point of babies, right?
- Best project acronym ever.
- I like this idea, but can't really make much use of it. See link above, re: babies.
- Seriously, it's like the GOP is run by children. First they couldn't be bothered to sign up for primaries on time, and now they're bouncing checks to pay for primaries they did sign up for?
- How long has it been since I've mentioned that Ross Douthat is a fucking idiot?
Hmmm. Interesting how some of those ingredients are in english and some of those are in japanese. Particularly that they have izumidai, a fish that is often sold in other sushi restaurants as "red snapper" but is really just talapia.
ReplyDeleteIt's Hawaii. It's not that uncommon for things to be in English and something else, so this mixed case isn't that odd.
