Friday: Q100/Juneteenth

It's going to be a holiday at Princeton from now on.
Here's a lunch from a week ago.

Wednesday: Q54/I was hungry

It was the best 5 Guys burger ever.

Friday: Q42/ Too much stuff.

Used my avocado for toast purposes.

Colby has a creepy basement.

Double ramp + triple bridge is good.  Two more bridges wouldn't hurt, though.

I didn't know villagers could get sick.

Not a bad arrangement.

Tuesday: Quarantine Day 4

I'm kind of getting the hang of this now.  It helps that today was day one of our conference, so most of the day was sitting on my couch, watching science on tv.  I've never really used my tv/computer setup for much, but it is perfect for video chat/remote conferences.  I suspect my camera and microphone are bad (because they are), but for things like this, it's far better than staring at a laptop (although of course, I was doing that as well).

Part of the time this one.
Which I named Cleffa for obvious reasons.  It replaces Popplio, which developed a broken left hinge, making it like laptop 4 that I've broken in that specific location.  Cleffa is slightly more powerful than Popplio, and pink instead of purple.

Got more of the puzzle done while making dinner.
Which was Emergency Quarantine Curry Rice.
It's equivalent to regular Curry Rice, except that it's made with 1/2 pound less stew meat than I wanted, two russet potatoes instead of the 4-5 yukon gold, and shallots instead of onions, because that's what got delivered in my order because almost everything was sold out.  I assume that will calm down by this weekend, right?

In any case, I have to go pick up prescriptions on Friday, so I figured that I'd do some manual shopping then.  Of course, it's also supposed to be a high of 78, in March, so yet again, everything just keeps getting worse, and nothing is good, and other unhappy thoughts.

The NPC lady just sat down next to this corpse, because the game doesn't clear bodies.
 So, that's weird.
And then I visited Zeus.
The game is set in Ptolemaic Egypt, so it makes sense to have Greek gods.

  • I should probably read this, so I would understand PSF shapes due to atmospheric turbulence better.
  • Penguins.
  • Yeah.  I think the premise is somewhat flawed.  This was also the height of the Renaissance, which is likely the true cause of both effects.
  • A trillion dollars.  Amazing how as soon as the Democrats aren't in power, Keynesian economics becomes popular, huh?  "Well aware of this history," fuck you, that's because they're the reason people had that impression!

Monday: Quarantine Day 3

I am not productive at home.  Between all the notifications and things happening, it's just not easy to get things done.  Tomorrow is the start of our conference, so I'll at least be justifiably unproductive.  It also doesn't help that my code from last week didn't do the right thing.

I did get emergency cheesecake delivered.

Even though I'm not the biggest fan of cheesecake, it's super dense and fatty, and that was what I was looking for.  I also got four shallots instead of two big onions.  I will make do in this crisis.

In the game, I'm doing side quests.  Like this one where I escort a crocodile.

And where I stand on Ra's head.
Which leads to a point I've been thinking about recently:  math works because it's internally consistent.  Same with science; when things don't work consistently, that's a sign that something needs to be fixed, and more science done to solve the problem.  I've always kind of assumed my political ideas were largely the same: you need this government program in case of X, that for Y, another for Z.  Not only are those things the right things to do, but it solves the system of "making sure people are well cared for."  We currently seem to be in the middle of a bunch of right-wing fantasies falling apart, illustrating why 1) paid sick leave is good; 2) why income support is good; 3) why health care should be guaranteed.

Sunday: Wrapping up fun times.

Tomorrow is back to work.

Friday: At least it's the weekend

So I can ignore outstanding work issues and badly named things until Monday.

And think about delicious pho.
And how much I totally love, but totally forget about, cheeseballs.

Wednesday: Travel

Travel is never lots of fun.
Airport monte cristo isn't great.
How do you remove all flavor from something that's just sugar + salt + fat?
Arrival tacos helped.
This guy's back?
Huh.  What?

Saturday: Mostly spent playing video games.

I did take out the trash, so that's good.

And got pancakes because they sounded good.
And I had groceries delivered.  It's not like I spent the entire day playing video games.
But I did find a levitating guy.
And killed the lady who was imprisoning children.
Because only monsters think it's ok to imprison kids.
But her body disappeared when I took it back to the girl who said she would "feed the body parts to crocodiles".  She also "pretended she didn't know me" when I dumped the body on the floor.

Had a meteor crash.

Which led to a weird-ass sequence.

Monday: Ugh

Today was super successful, and I got a lot more done than I expected at work, and then came home and played more video games.
There were bagels at work.  I really really like bagels at work.
You'll notice the quest talks about mountains, and I'm not in the mountains.  I had to take a mid-adventure diversion to go pick up some random weapons to get an achievement.

I keep running across things like this in the world, and think, "did I do that?"

Tuesday: Ugh.

Good news is that my car has new oil.  Bad news is that the radiator is apparently drippy.  Ugh.

But I got queso fries for lunch, because I was already way over there to get my car worked on.
And then I battled Athenians hiding in a wooden horse.

Sunday: Exciting sports day

The Pankration!  Which, of course, I won.  I think I was a bit overpowered for that questline though.

Also football, which was so exciting I fell asleep for about an hour while "watching" it.

Football day is also the day I make chili.
I started with pork belly this year instead of bacon, and put in about the same amount of ground beef.  A big onion and a handful of roasted garlic, along with jalepenos dona style, two cans of tomatoes, a can of tomato paste, some ground chipotles, some dark chocolate, and a bunch of spices.
It is very good chili.
It's smoother and less firey angry than past ones.  Now I need to decide if I want to take a tortilla with my lunch tomorrow.

Also, more game.
Someone poisoned Alkibiades, so I had to murder a fort to find the antidote.

Standing on baby faces is ok if they're gods.  And stone.
Ghosts.
Some idiot sent mercenaries after me.

  • I also implemented this and my lightbulbs' APIs today.
  • This doesn't really suggest any solutions.

Friday: I wish people weren't so awful

Especially since the entire point of democracy and friendly relations with other nations is to prevent people from dying, whether from regular international wars, or from violent insurrection.  I thought this was something that everyone understood.  We don't have strong monarchies anymore because last time France had to switch to a decimal calendar.

I have an army of ducks at work to stack.
End of week chicken parm sub is good.

Saturday: A busy day

Woke up early, and discovered it was the rainiest day ever.

So I decided to go see Weathering with You.
Never fits in frame.
It is not as good as Your Name was, but that's an unfair bar to compare it to.  Probably the best movie since, though.  Shinkai is very good at making things be very sad before resolving them.

And there's a Pizzaria Uno next door, so I have lots of thick pizza.
I've missed thick pizza.

Maybe a third of hell is done?

Then I defeated the Sphinx.

And watched this wolf butt spin around in the floor.

Tuesday: Back to work.

Which means getting up too early, spending a lot of work time figuring out the state of things from last week, and generally being unhappy to not be on my couch.

But there was a new Legends of Tomorrow, so that helps.

I guess one of my eggs had a new baby in it?

I was trying to figure out why someone scribbled on my orange sticker, and then I saw that it was a crow.  That just raised more questions.
