Now I just need to convince people that it is actually good.
And then more Assassin's Creed:
Huh. Three more carefully arranged assassins. How did that happen?
But later I met up with Zopheras and her mom.
Zopheras is on my list of romance characters.
We went to the only pink tree in the entire country.
But I chose to get my horse for the horse race instead of using the generic one, so I lost, and apparently that's a deal breaker? I think that's the only failure of the 16 possible so far (not counting Theletas, as that's either/or with Kyra).
Also this lady, who somehow got riddled with flame arrows after being a jerk to me and her workers. Let's just say there was some "organization" and a "breakdown in negotiations between labor and capital."
While playing this game, I keep thinking about how cool it would be to use it as a history lesson, because that's the kind of weirdo who misses school that I am. It turns out that that's actually a thing.
Heather had far more common sense than all the other Silent Hill protagonists put together. Harry was far too "oh, horrible monsters. Better find my daughter faster, I guess!" and James was just "huh? Search this dirty clogged toilet? Sure. Fun times." Also, no, the wine bottles are not loss.jpg, because Silent Hill 3 came out five years before that comic was made.
These are the problems of three day weekends. I did my standard "do absolutely nothing productive until I get super hungry. I remembered that La Tour has a croque monsieur, and that sounded pretty good. I was hoping for something like this:
It looks more burnt than it was. But still, a bit of a disappointment from my high expectations. It being open-faced also confused me, but after some IMs with Julie, this is apparently an acceptable style.
Afterwards, I was driving down Ala Moana by the sunny shore, and remembered that Alakea turns into the Pali highway, so I took that turn. Less than ten minutes later, I was at the overlook.
Where it was decidedly not sunny.
I'm tempted to claim that it wasn't technically raining up there. When you are literally in the cloud, it kind of seems more like you're bumping in the rain before it has a chance to fall. Also, this is the most Silent Hill picture I think I've ever taken. There were people here when I arrived, but none of them had umbrellas or were prepared for the weather, so they were quickly leaving.
This chicken gang was not happy about the situation.
Which reminds me of the other story I was going to put in today's post. I've been playing Disney Tsum Tsum off and on, and finally accumulated enough money to buy a fancy character box, as that seems to be what the strategy guides suggest (although "strategy," because they're often "use this character specifically, even though everything is random, and everything would cost a bajillion dollars if you use the buy-shit method"). I was hoping for someone cool, and ended up with Belle. Ok, sure. With my previous characters, my best strategy was to use Dale, and spam the "turn a bunch in the middle into Chips, which you can then clear into a big line" move as much as possible. With this, I was averaging about 100-130 coins per round. My first game with Belle? 500 coins. Her special move is "I'll dance in this pattern with Beast, and everything we touch is immediately collected in chains of like 20+". So yes, getting a fancy box is certainly better, because they're at least five times more effective, even when they're five levels lower. Anyway, back to linkstorm.
There's a lot of details and backstory to this, but the short version is: a bunch of jerk-ass racist/sexist/jerk-ass-ist jerk asses flooded the (sci-fi award) Hugo nominations with their own picks because the nomination process is open in a somewhat super-democratic manner. However, the Hugos have a "just don't give out this award" option for the final votes. So that's pretty much what happened, and it's kind of funny.
I thought about stopping for pancakes, or Mexican, or just getting a WF burrito.
I also realized the moment I woke up this morning that I'd forgotten to take pictures of the eclipse last night. I had planned on doing so, and then completely forgot.
Thinking they're all great, because they have "super" in their name. You can't even run tcsh correctly, you jerk! What's so super about that?
Silent Hill 3 was full of some of the creepiest horror in the series.
This is not nearly as dramatic as what I would suggest they should do, but it's at least a step in the right direction. The fixed schedule thing is so fundamental that it should really be the law by now.
FFS, Lenovo. Can you try not to fuck things up? I'm nearly ready to buy a new laptop, since you seem to have figured out that you can't just change how thinkpads work and assume everyone will still want to buy it. And now this shit? Do you have morons in charge of everything?
The Lucifer pilot now has people attached. I wonder how bad of a fuckup it's going to be.
"in the TV show he’ll mostly be, wait for it – solving crimes. According to Variety the TV show will be about Lucifer using his Satanic powers to help the LAPD “punish criminals”"
There you go. Nice job not even trying to tell the story that's there. Just shit out your own stupid story instead.
I had the idea at the end of the day today to go out, and get a special SPD dinner. Not some boring "corned beef and cabbage" junk though. Using the power of puns, I realized that this would be the perfect opportunity to get a patty melt.
Except patty melts are nearly extinct in the modern world, due to apathy and inaction. My original thought was to go to IHOP. Except IHOP no longer sells them, according to their menu. However, Wailana Coffee House next door sells them, so I figured I'd try there. I was about to turn the corner to park, when I noticed that they had a line out the front door. So, nope. There's this place, but it's way the hell over in Pearl City.
Instead of the glory of the best sandwich ever, I ended up with sadness and disappointment for dinner.
Even this monkey is confused that patty melts aren't everywhere.
It turns out that that's not terribly a lot of fun. Today was largely spent trying to figure out how to convert the thing that does X to one exposure to do X to something like 1000 exposures at the same time. "Oh, just do X 1000 times!" No, that's not going to work, because I need to pack all 1000 exposures into one processing block, because that's how the supercomputer wants to compute things. Super-ly.
I don't feel like actually translating the title, but it's clear this is just Pikachu mimicking everyone else.
I can't wait to see how much of a disaster this Olympics is going to be. I think I've said that before, but this is a news story from today, and the dumb thing opens on Friday. This Friday. Three days away Friday.
You've clearly tried something, but I'm sorry to say that I think you've failed horribly.
First, let's consider who you're appealing to. Me. Guys 25-35 that have played Silent Hill games, and are most likely single. I'm unhappy, so maybe you something didn't go right.
Second, the music. This doesn't even seem like a knock-off of Yamaoka's music. Most of his rock is slower, with a strong beat that supports the minor key much better than this avant guitar screech.
Third, they're the nurses, right? Where are the knives? The nurses stab. They stab and stab and stab and stab. Except for those that have pipes to smash. Smash and smash and smash and smash. Dancing around in messy nurse costumes isn't really Silent Hill.
Plus, (four), you do that undressing thing where you take off the blouses. Imagine that with knives and blouses made with snaps. A quick pseudo-stab to your chest, and the blouse falls off. Christ, do you even understand choreography?
Five, this entire video seems like you're doing less of a tribute to Silent Hill, and more of a tribute to Lady Gaga's Bad Romance video. Instead of a random twitchy thing, try a "step...step...step...step, step step...step...step...step." Doing things on threes is unusual, and alternating slow and fast keeps things unbalanced.
I think this falls under the "duh" category. Of course going from six major carriers to three over the past decade or so reduces competition and increases prices.
Other than the odd story problem wrapping, this is a pretty good problem. The equation given in the description should make it obvious that the solutions a(t) and b(t) are sine and cosine, based on the trigonometric identity. That also points out that the solution is an orbit on a circle. Part (a) is just the chain rule and algebra. The hint in (b) is just the consequence of a(t) and b(t) being sine and cosine, and tells you that b(t) is the cosine one. (c) is just more algebra, and (d) is basically making the plot. I like this problem.
I'd forgotten this character. I'm pretty sure I read all these notes, though. This puzzle, on the other hand, is something that I will never forget, no matter how long I live.
I haven't deduced where the lie is, but it's clearly in there. Fucking lies.
Then I got the envelope solution to complete, only to discover that it's generating absolute garbage for dense lines. I think I need to more aggressively terminate the solutions. The only other thing I can think of is to do a simultaneous fit, which is programmatically more complex.
I'm also glad that the whole Boston thing is wrapped up, because that was just stupid and sloppy. Tip for prospective terrorists: you're probably an idiot, so maybe you're not smart enough for this job.
Huh. I had no idea that owning a pet dragon would be so cool. (surprise: I totally knew that owning a dragon would be so cool.)
I went with a less complicated Easter dinner this year, with just a simple lamb stew. It did take four hours to cook, so "less complicated" is more just that I didn't have to schedule things in any significant manner. I had thought about doing something with potatoes, but couldn't decide if I wanted to chop them and add them to the stew, mash them for a pie style, or something else (my one thought was to pan fry them crispy, and use that as a topping). In the end, I decided to just skip the potatoes for today.
I saw this news story just after I started cooking. It immediately made me want to eat pizza. You're a jerk, pizza.
