I am so glad

I have this external brain that I can consult.  I don't need to remember what goes in chili, if I think about making a turkey chili for thanksgiving.  Let's get some extra smoked paprika, just to be safe.

I am going to make it through this year.

Still need to buy those damn tickets.

Sunday: Q30/Easter

Another day inside.
The tree across the way is blooming nicely.
I was able to get a last minute order in this morning, so I got to have a wonderful Bunny Day miracle.
I even got the cake!
I braised lamb, so that'll be the leftover for this week.  ALSO CAKE!
THERE IS FRUIT INSIDE THE CAKE!
Also video games.
So many statues of Persephone.

Including giant crying Persephone.
Everything is super high, so it's easy to kick people off.  I had to come down afterwards to loot this guy.
And then I looked up in the sky.
WTF IS THAT?
No clue.  Let's see if the story explains it.

This bear is relevant for link 1.

Saturday: Recovery day

From too much food, from being sick, from not sleeping enough.
From not having both types.
 From not having pho.
From not having shave ice.
A good day.

Friday: Leftovers day

So many leftovers.  So little space in my tummy to cram them in in one sitting.

FINALLY.

Thursday: Thanksgiving

So lots of food.

Some might say too much food.
And I'm coughing, so I've caught the "spending time near kids means you get an upper respiratory infection" plague.

Food was good, though.  I do need to look up how koji works.

  • Koji turkey
  • Mashed potatoes and gravy
  • Cranberry sauce and rolls
  • Mashed honeynut squash with sage brown butter.
  • stuffing
  • Deconstructed green bean casserole, with mushrooms and garlic oil.
  • Smashed potatoes with koji turkey drippings
  • Roasted carrots with koji turkey drippings
  • Brussel sprouts with fish sauce/rice wine vinegar/ancho chili sauce.

Wednesday: Groceries (some more) and food prep

I am tired, and my legs hurt from standing and stirring.

Tuesday: Telecon and sushi

Tomorrow we start cooking.

Yummy sushi.

Sunday: My tummy is full of ham.

Delicious delicious ham.  I don't know if this was just an extra good ham, or if my lazy cooking method (throw some cider in the bottom of the dutch oven, put the ham on a steamer over that, and chuck it in the oven for two-ish hours) was better, but this was super good.

Also avocado toast for lunch.

But more importantly, ham.
So now I have two big containers of ham.  I think I'll get groceries so I can have proper sandwiches this week.

Monday: more prep.

I think we have all the ingredients now. Or most of the ingredients.  We can probably start cooking tomorrow if we wanted.

It is no where near as cold here as it was at home.

It's dark.

Thursday: I don't have a title.

I hope my neighbor's dog doesn't bark all night like it did last night.

I also need to start thinking about Thxgvg soon.  I should buy flights this weekend, and I think it'd be a good idea to revisit my stuffin muffins, since I last did that a decade ago.  In addition to a "regular," I think adding miso to one batch would be good.  I don't think it'll add much flavor, but will add a bunch of umami that will make the stuffing better by itself.  I want to try mushrooms again, maybe starting with dried mushrooms, and letting them reconstitute in the broth.  This should do the same umami thing.

Now I've made myself hungry.

A combination today.

  • Jobs.
  • I don't understand why these people always seem to think they won't end up murdered.
