Monday: Working remotely still means no fun.

:(

Flying tomorrow continues no-fun, and being back in the office Wednesday tops it all off.  Plus, today was a constant telecon/slack/messages day.

Have I posted the weird tea stuff from Stardew?

Team Stardew is pretty fun, although I wish there was a way to go off and grind our characters a bit.  And we all died on the same day, on the same level of the mines.

Flower dance.

And another legendary.

Sunday: Wrapping up fun times.

Tomorrow is back to work.

Friday: At least it's the weekend

So I can ignore outstanding work issues and badly named things until Monday.

And think about delicious pho.
And how much I totally love, but totally forget about, cheeseballs.

Wednesday: Travel

Travel is never lots of fun.
Airport monte cristo isn't great.
How do you remove all flavor from something that's just sugar + salt + fat?
Arrival tacos helped.
This guy's back?
Huh.  What?

Monday: New Beginnings.

But I'm going home tomorrow.  I've been away for a long time, and it'll be good to be back in my bed, with my couch, and with all my stuff again.  It would really be nice if everyone lived closer together, but that's probably not happening anytime soon.
I did find a shiny Eevee.  Shame it's crappy.

Sunday: A lazy vacation day.

Always a good thing.

Everyone woke up late, and then had pancakes.
Haunter was not our waiter.

Followed by getting squishy jiggly cheesecake.
This place is far away, but seems really good.

I had super sweet coffee.
And then more being lazy, which is always good before slowly working back into a "doing work" mode.
Sushi dinner.
I then stayed up way too late reading my book, and JFC, can't anyone get a break in this story?  Not everyone needs to end up dead or exiled or mauled.  Geeze.

Saturday: Probably too much food.

Probably.

AYCE KBBQ.
Not as good as the one in Oakland, but still very tasty.

Then an afternoon of being very full.
Followed by a fancy dinner.
With lobster bisque and lightly seared ahi after the oysters.  Quite good.

Friday: An ending.

Greek lunch.
I should find a good Greek place.
Haunter at pre-dinner cider fest.
Cider is good.

Thursday: It seems like forever since I was last at home.

I did get my rework of my Stardew farm mostly done today.  I think this new format is far more efficient.  Being able to use a workbench helps a lot, too.

Delibird is too big to photograph.

Wednesday: 2020.

That seems like a made-up fake year.

I'm glad that my book review published last night.  It's a thing that's far too late in coming, but I plan to keep up with: every book I read this year should be listed, along with a rating on the "Dog Rates" scale of 10-15 / 10.  They're all good books.  I'm thinking about adding movies and music, but I don't want to clutter things up too much.

 Also video games?
Finally found a prismatic shard and got my galaxy sword.

Visited Caroline's weird tea world.

It this part of the same thing?
 I don't remember.
Married Abigail.
It's possible I rate romance interests based on proximity.
Discovered that auto-grabbers auto-grab things in coops.
Which is ground breaking.  I've reorganized my farm based on this information, and it's super efficient now.

Anyway, a new year:

Started with New Year Tacos.
 Delicious.
New Year Raid.
Green.
New Years New Restaurant Dinner.
 Tasty.
New Year Escape Room Box.
Mysterious.

Monday: Escape!

Healthy lasagna with spinach and lemon ricotta.
Lemon ricotta is really good here, and probably in similar use-cases.

This sounds like a superhero.
Then escape room, where we solved all the puzzles with only one small hint in the bonus "extra-hard" bit.  Not bad, but we probably could have sorted it out if we had thought clearer about it.
I don't even know who this guy is.
Heatmor?  Whatever.

Then planning and shopping and cleaning for NYE.  One side benefit: getting bbq:
Yummy delicious bbq.  The brisket cooled a lot between the store and home, but that isn't really that big of a problem.

  • I saw this chair yesterday, and kind of really want one, but with a back.  I 100% prefer to sit in my office chair crosslegged, and this would make that much easier and more comfortable.

Sunday: Hotpot and Puzzles

Central Market lunch.  Plus some initial planning for NYE, as well as for hotpot.
Then some work-adjacent work.  I hate deciding that refactoring would solve a lot of problems.  Even though it probably will, and will make unit tests easier to write.
And delicious hotpot.  At home.
Yum yum yum!

And this dang puzzle:

It's a Bob Ross.
It's made me think about computer vision guided puzzle solvers.  It looks like the first two google results use some sort of edge/shape solver.  My thought was to feed in an image of "pieces" (which would then be segmented) and "goal", with the idea of using cross correlation to identify where each piece should fall on the completed image.  Maybe I'll see about implementing something when I get home.

Saturday: travel

Waking up early, checking a bag, finding out there are no quick food places past security at IND, flying to O'Hare, dashing across terminals there, getting to the second plane just as they're boarding my group, discovering that they've upgraded me for that flight, having a bad flight lunch, landing, getting my luggage despite everyone crowding around the conveyor, arriving.

Forgetting to take useful pictures.

Raids and gym take overs.

A new bear.

Wednesday: Travel.

Finally back home.

With airport tacos.
My flight was delayed more than an hour, which meant I got back an hour later than expected.  By that point, my groceries had arrived and joined the packages that had been piling up while I was on vacation.
And our Pokemon was still in the gym?
Weird.  Now to get up tomorrow and go to work and be productive again.

Tuesday: Good food and OMG, I play a psychopath in this game.

Delicious bbq.  I <3 bbq="" much.="" so="" td="">
And then some work during the day.
And pasta for dinner.
I played more of Pokemon Shield today.  I'm beginning to think either:

  1. I'm training way more than I should, and that I'm not supposed to be fighting everything I see.
  2. I'm a horrible monster that should be stopped.
At this point, I'm about 8 levels above everything I fight.  I have to actively plan what to do if I want to catch a new Pokemon, because my SadBoi will simply murder it in one move.  A quick summary:
This kid:  one shotted.

This kid:  one shotted.
This curry: delicious.

This guy: old enough to know better.

This guy: doesn't understand I just wanted a coffee.

These teens: sorely outmatched.

This guy: He can't be my rival if I murder all of his pets every time we meet.
This guy: Also can't be my rival because acting like a piece of shit doesn't mean anything if I kill your creatures without taking any damage.
This kid: not disguised enough.
To be fair, I am seeing all the sights and doing my best Galar tourism.  It just feels so wrong.
