Friday: Q150

I miss sushi.
At least the bbq place is pretty good.

Sunday: A lazy vacation day.

Always a good thing.

Everyone woke up late, and then had pancakes.
Haunter was not our waiter.

Followed by getting squishy jiggly cheesecake.
This place is far away, but seems really good.

I had super sweet coffee.
And then more being lazy, which is always good before slowly working back into a "doing work" mode.
Sushi dinner.
I then stayed up way too late reading my book, and JFC, can't anyone get a break in this story?  Not everyone needs to end up dead or exiled or mauled.  Geeze.

Tuesday: Telecon and sushi

Tomorrow we start cooking.

Yummy sushi.

Saturday: Travel

With ok airport sushi for breakfast.

And the requisite Pokemon raid.
Dinner was not to be spoken of.

Saturday: I should have checked to see if my bread was any good before ordering groceries.

Because, spoiler: it wasn't.  I guess I'm going to buy bread tomorrow.

Today was ayce sushi place.

I may have ended up with more than I expected.
I'm sure I didn't order three ebi.  Oh well.  This place isn't the best ever (the fish is cut super thin), but the variety is good.
Plus ice cream!
Then I went next door to get some of the apple pop from (I think) Taiwan.
I did not get the croque asses.

  • I really hope all the assholes who didn't care about the election are happy.  I wonder if they think about how many people's lives they've helped ruin.

Saturday: It was supposed to be cooler today. Why was it not cooler today?

I mean, I've been accumulating hoodies specifically under the assumption that it'd start getting cooler.  It doesn't work as well if it just stays hot all the time.  Stupid next week is going to be in the 80s again.  In donking October.  80s.

I wanted Japanese today, so that's what I went with.
The AYCE place nearby has a few issues, but I don't really know of any place else where I can get ten different things in a nice small size.  It's kind of like the kaitenzushi place, but with people.  And no conveyor belt.
But with ice cream.
Thinking further on this, why don't they have kaiten-tapas?  Literally anything could be kaiten style.  More things need to be done that way.

I also realized that even if you've gone to Target already in a day, you can take a trip to the grocery store if you really feel like getting some cake.
Cheesecake works.

Saturday: A Lazy Day

I did take out all my cardboard, finally.  And I got sushi, finally.

So excited!
The place near me is all-you-can-eat.  Which seems odd, but I guess that's popular here.  I probably should have tried more stuff.
Fried stuff.
The gyoza are gyoza.  Not the absolute best, but good.  Tempura sweet potato was very good, and I should have had more.  The chicken was a surprise.  Like a fancy panko crusted chicken finger.

Sushi time.
Well.  I think they focus on rolls, because they have a bunch of their own.  The spicy fried roll was good, but cooked ahi isn't my favorite.  The California roll was a bit odd, with larger kani chunks.  Tamago is tamago.  The unagi was fine, if a bit small.  The ahi was also small, and not very flavorful.  Probably not super surprising given the AYCE style, since it wouldn't be too hard to break the bank.

Dessert gyoza.  And shumai.  They never brought my ice cream.
I'll probably be back.  They have not AYCE stuff, and their unagi don and bentos sound good.  No katsu don, though.  It looks like there are places in Princeton Junction that do.

Friday: I keep falling asleep

Because I'm sleepy.  Today we saw Incredibles 2, which was pretty good, even if the twist is pretty much what you'd expect.

Someone dropped important things in the car while leaving.  I had a backup Clipper Card to use.

Someone said Chipotle was ok, but actually doesn't like it?  The queso was good today.

And then the movie, with uncooperative seats.

Sushi for dinner.  I'll miss this place.

Sunday: I'll split this when I'm not working with being awake most of the past three days

 An empty apartment.
 Airport sushi.
Airport miso and sake (ama no to).
I hope some of this style survives after the renovation.
A pretzel in Chicago.  I had two.
But Chicago doesn't plug in their chairs, so whatever the point?
I guess that since the Tumblr app works so well, that have time to add fancy graphics that don't work.

  • But this part worked fine.  And I'm so sleep deprived that I keep walking up from dreams happening in the real world, which isn't the best.

Tuesday: I'm as packed as I can get, I think.

My apartment is a mess, but at least most of the books are in the right place, a lot of trash is trashed, my dishes are ready, and I forgot to do a load of laundry earlier, so I'm doing it now.  Clothes is the biggest issue right now, as I don't have a clear idea of what to pack on the plane.

Last kaitenzushi.

  • No links because I have too many other things to worry about.  I've remembered new things to pack up like a dozen times.  At this point, I think I just need to wake up tomorrow and it'll be ok.
  • Oh wait, I do have a link because I found it earlier.  Elon Musk is a stupid asshole.

Saturday: It is going to rain all weekend.

I leveled up!
Also my Pokemon Go didn't really survive the laundry trip.  It doesn't vibrate anymore, so it's hard to notice when to push the button.
Sushi won the "what to eat" puzzle.

And I got gyoza.
I should probably eat the five I still have in the fridge.  And there was Drawful:

Hip dad.

Erotic library book.

Sunday: I woke up too early, took a nap, and then got sushi.

A productive Sunday.

I've been on a ebi fry kick recently.  And I'm looking at the dumplings (which weren't super great), and really wish I had some now (because even not great dumplings are still yummy).

Wednesday: Title.

A decade ago I had unagi.

Saturday: All according to plan.

Julie said last night that A Wrinkle in Time was a good movie, so I set that as the plan for the day.
With a hot dog.
It is good.  I had forgotten most of the story, so I'm going to reread the book to see what's different.  The costumes were fantastic, and even though there's a scene that is pretty clearly "New Zealand + CGI", I thought they did a good job making things feel alien.  It also made me realize that everything needs to be more diverse.  Just all over the place.  There is literally zero reason not to.

And then got sushi.

And caught this jerk.  Finally.
I am finally down to 500 items in my saved RSS thing.  Looking through it, it looks like Thanksgiving is the problem.  I suspect it's because I don't reblog things while on vacation, and then I get hit by Christmas too soon afterwards, and Thanksgiving stuff gets left behind.

Saturday: NBC is criminally bad at showing the Olympics.

You'd think "film Olympics, show that to people" would be easy, but when I checked at 2:00 this afternoon, it was Judge Judy.  2:30?  NBC Nightly News.  3:00?  Judge Judy.  I get that they wanted to have a single feed for all time zones, but why not have optional alternate feeds so that people not on the east coast can watch something.  Also, this is now a rerun I'm watching.  They only showed figure skating and snowboarding.  No ski jump?  Or speed skating?  Come on.

The gothic event is over.  I finally completed my last stretch goal from the beginning of the game.

Kapahulu.
Because I really wanted sushi, and didn't trust that Kuru Kuru would have good staff today.  So I decided to try the Genki next to Safeway, which also allowed me to buy stuff at Safeway.

I satisfied my ebi fry craving.

The entire place is express train style.  You order from the tablet, they make the order, put it on the train, and it's delivered to you within a minute or two.  Probably smarter, as it prevents waste, and eliminates some of the staff needed.
I ordered too much, and had a too-full tummy.
I have the pair now!

This showed up on the nearby yesterday, and my comment was "what is this skittery fuck?"  A nightmare, obviously.
The sushi was supposed to be a "light" lunch, as I had the idea when I woke up to get Korean again for dinner.  There's one close, so I decided the rule was that I could get it, but that I had to do a walk first, and pick it up on the way back.
I went with bulgogi instead of kalbi.  I also didn't eat all the mandoo in one sitting, so I have not yet eaten 20 in less than 48 hours.
It's been awhile since I did a walk.  I should probably not be that lazy.  The bulgogi is also good.  Easier to eat than the kalbi, but not as caramelized.
