Saturday: Movie day

First, I saw this person on the way to the theater. It was apparently orange day.
She wasn't homeless, a lot of people walk to the grocery store with wheeled carts.
Unfortunately, I read the show times wrong, and discovered as I arrived that "The Wind Rises" started a half hour earlier than I expected, and so I had to rush in to the theater:
So no in theater ticket picture.  So I had to take it on top of the most appropriate thing in my house.
I think a lot of people are misunderstanding the film.  Miyazaki likes drawing planes.  He decided he was going to make one last movie.  That movie was chosen perfectly so he can draw lots of planes.  I liked it, partially because most (all?) the sound effects are done by people with their voices.  It had the same standard beautiful art as all the other films, although the story was a bit weaker.  I again put that to the fact that the movie seems more about drawing planes, so I don't think it's that bad of a thing.  I think Frozen is still the best animated film of the year, but it's also the best Disney film like ever.  This would have won on any other year.

I am happy that I got to see the subtitled version, as the main character is voiced by Hideaki Anno, who is the guy who did Neon Genesis Evangelion, along with other things that will always be overshadowed by NGE.

Given that Miyazaki is retiring again, I decided to go over his films.  Blatantly stealing from wikipedia, and inserting my "where I first saw the film" in this color.

I probably need to back through and fill in the gaps.  The shorts are harder, as I think some of them are only played at the museum.  Hopefully they'll put out a shorts DVD at some point.

Finally, I discovered the mall has a Doraemon:
because I was peaking through the window at the sushi place after the movie trying to see how long the wait list was.  It was too long, so I went home, only realizing when I got back that I bought stuff at WF, and could have gotten some tasty WF sushi to eat for dinner, but I didn't, and now I want sushi.  So I may be going back to get sushi tomorrow.
