Wednesday: Tomorrow I need to see how many people have strong feelings about my code changes.

I also had zero trick-or-treaters.  Zero.  Come on, neighbor kids.  I guess I'm taking a bunch of candy to work tomorrow, for grown ups to eat.  NO CANDY FOR YOU, NEIGHBOR KIDS!

I couldn't decide if this sign meant that having the door open made downstairs cold, or that it made the upstairs cold.

Tuesday: I need to actually think about this systematically, I guess.

Technically it's not my problem, but I have enough thoughts that it never hurts to give things a look.

Monday, October 29, 2018

Monday: Always fun when you spend hours tracking down a problem, and it's an obvious screw-up style typo.

I caught this jerk today.  I'm probably a bit behind on my Pokemon research stuff.

Sunday: Donk.

Woke up, wanted lunch, and had no idea what I wanted for lunch.  Eventually made a decision, drove there, and decided to be boring and try someplace old because the new place looked kind of sketchy.

Then I went to Target, bought more than I needed, came home, and felt compelled to clean things.  So I vacuumed, cleaned the bathroom, and took out the trash and recycling.

And, a few hours later, I discovered that I might have thrown out something I needed, so I got to go look in the dumpster for my trash, only to not find it because other people dumped their trash on top of it.  So that means I get to make a phone call tomorrow because health insurance is run by idiots, and things are needlessly complicated for dumb reasons.  Donk.

I also sat down and made stuffing, using only:

  1. Sausage.
  2. A Panera sourdough breadbowl bread I cut up into bits.
  3. Carrot.
  4. Onion.
  5. Celery.
  6. Chicken broth.
  7. Sage.
  8. Miso.
It turns out that miso might just be magical.
It has far more flavor than it should.  The miso adds all the umami that you really need to boost flavors.  I only added the miso to this serving, in case it didn't work well, but I could mix it in with the rest.  I also need to use smaller bread bits, because there's no gelling at all.

And then I watched Supergirl, which I'm a bit "meh" on, because if Melissa Benoist is just going to take half the season off, they should have just pushed the season back.  Instead, we got a filler episode about why the space-racist bad guy is so space-racist.  Spoiler: because he sucks, and who the fuck cares, it's 2018: we don't normalize bigots now.

  • This is technically a security hole, but all of my Roku things are isolated on the local network.  I probably should make an program to do all of these things.
  • The discovery of the sky.
  • Myth of Er.
  • I would really like a single player mode.  I'm ok being either "always dead because the other team is super good" or "somehow leading in kills with my healing/shield character because everyone else is super bad," but it'd be nice to be able to just do a story thing.

Saturday: I should go buy chips tomorrow.

It won't solve the fact that I want chips now, but it will solve it for then.  Today was mostly a "do things at home" day, although I did order Panera for pickup.  I'm not yet to the level of lazy where I have them drive the half mile to deliver food for me.

I'd click "fewer like this," but I don't think that'd have the intended effect.

Friday: I'm not sure if I'm getting sick.

I may just not be used to cold weather.  My nose has been a bit stuffy, and my throat is a bit scratchy.  I'm hoping it's not something big.
Great.  That's what I thought you'd do, you dumb fucking horse.

Thursday: When you spend more than an hour debugging someone else's code so your computer will do what you want it to.

Sadface.
Stinky jerk.

Probably should have evolved sooner jerk.

First new jerk?

Wednesday, October 24, 2018

Wednesday: Ugh.

Ugh.

Just ugh.

I have a lot of candy.  If I don't have a bunch of trick-or-treaters, I'm going to have a lot of candy to eat.

  • I looked this up because I saw a goose in the median standing over a goose that had been hit.  You may be devil creatures, geese, but you don't deserve that.
  • Green bean casserole.
  • I haven't read this yet, but a rewrite of Hamlet by a tumblr person?  Yes, please.

Tuesday: So close to having this project work.

I have something wrong with a parity, and I think that is basically it.  Then more documentation and some more testing, and then convincing people my way is better.

Are they rolling out new Pokemon slowly?  If not, they really should.

I made the gochujang pork again today.  It came out super spicy.
And I have two lunches already packed, and have a third ready to go if I decide to do that on Friday.

Monday: "Damn horse is fireproof!"

Legends of Tomorrow is back, and it started off this season at basically the same level of crazy it left off last season.  The team had to go back to Woodstock to prevent a monster from killing everyone, and the monster turned out to be a murderous unicorn that eats hearts and sprays hallucinogenic goo.

This morning I discovered that the sun shines perfectly through my peep hole at this time of year.

I bought steak at the Korean grocery this weekend.  It was good, and I made too much delicious baked potato to go with it.
I also discovered this morning that I'm now within in delivery radius for the new Amazon/WF thing.  $5 for delivery plus ~$5 for driver tip is totally within my "I'm lazy, but want a specific food" price point.  I understand that this is a super lazy thing to do, but since there is no regular grocery near my apartment, this gives me a reason to not spend an hour getting groceries.  Plus: it probably cuts down on my impulse shopping.

In any case, I actually planned out meals for this week.  Steak tonight (and leftover for lunch tomorrow).  Gochujang pork belly tomorrow (with leftovers for lunch Wednesday and Thursday).  Stuffing muffins Thursday (mushroom, shiitake + miso, apple, plain?).

And I know I'm falling behind on Drawlloween.

Sunday: Ugh

I thought this morning "I'll go to the ramen place, and get katsudon."  But the stupid ramen place was crazy busy.  At 2pm.  So I got groceries.  And it was still busy (although I discovered the Korean grocery does sell miso, it's in a refrigerated case.  No lup cheong, however).  I looked at the breakfast place next door: also stupid busy.  So I got frustrated, drove out to Target, bought some tooth paste, and then stood in a soap aisle to try and find some place else for lunch.

A good bahn mi.
Not quite what I wanted, but good enough.  Then I came home, wasted the day, and now it's later than I wanted to go to bed.

  • Baguette Bistro.
  • So, that's nice to learn thirty years too late.
  • Also the government said they were going to be twice as awful now, which makes it even more important to overthrow them.

Drawlloween 2018: Serpent

Saturday: Museum day!

I woke up later than I wanted, but I still had three hours to explore the Princeton Art Museum when I got there.

That looks familiar.

I like animal shaped vessels.

I'm a bit torn on having mummies on display.

That.  Is not.  A dolphin.

Michael.

I probably could have spent more time there, which is a good thing.  After walking around the museum with a grumbly tumbly, I wanted something to eat.

Brisket, gravy, mac and cheese, cheese, grilled onions, with a side of dipping tomato soup.
The grilled cheese store is good.

I dumped Cloyster in a gym.

And finally caught a Buneary.

Drawlloween 2018: Teeth

Friday: I wanted to have this project done by today at work.

It isn't, but that was what I was hoping for.  We'll see how next week goes.
There was a space in the gym.
And I discovered that some shows are leaving Crunchyroll soon, so if I want to watch them, I should do that.
Just try.  Please.
I should also probably do something this weekend.  Maybe do a museum?

  • I need to use more Zazz.
  • Apparently he worked at the astronomy department.
  • I wonder if he was associated with the Scudders who owned the mill (the road I drive on every day).  It's about 50 years, prior, though.  And "associated," because the past was a horrible place.

Drawlloween 2018: Eye

Thursday: Work from home day.

Which was also "why did you schedule this so I have to leave my front door open for two hours when it's only 50 degrees out?" day.  At least my front door looks better than it did.

Also I can watch CCS during lunch, and wonder how many heads tall they made Toya and Yoko.
Like ten.  People aren't supposed to be like ten heads tall.  That's weird and wrong.

Drawlloween 2018: Candy Monster

Wednesday: This week is both too fast and too slow.

Trying to sort out travel for next month doesn't help.  Trying to get that travel sorted out so I can do my other travel for next month double doesn't help.  Plus boring doctor appointments, and dumb crap like that (although I did get my insurance people to let me transfer to a new regular doctor that's like 25 minutes closer).  Finally, tomorrow, on the coldest day of the week, the apartment is having people visit to paint my front door.  Which means my door has to be open for multiple hours.  Which means I need to be home.  Which means tomorrow I'm working from home.

My cold, cold, home.

The moon and Mars.
 New Pokemon are here.
Like my old laptop.

And FireMonkey.

Drawlloween 2018: Angular

Tuesday: New Pokemon Day

Which is a good thing, because it will give me a reason to play the game again, since I'm pretty sure I've caught enough rattata.

I caught this jerk.

They don't list Hawaii on the card.
I think my best solution is going to be to cancel my regular doctor appointment for Thursday, and change my doctor to the one that's closer.  I'm already ruining the day due to the apartment people painting my door.

Plus I need to sort out travel stuff, because I'm going to San Francisco in a month.  It's annoying how useful this meeting will be.

Drawlloween 2018: Owl

It's just the owl face today.
