Wait, what?

Doesn't the Enterprise have fancy germ filters in the transporters that prevent them from getting things like Klingon Nose Plague?  Then how exactly do they have a medical emergency of everyone being infected with some sort of space flu?  Can't they just beam everybody from where they are on the ship to slightly to the left of where they are, but pull the space flu out of them all?

I mean, I know we needed a problem on board the ship while Riker and the gang fight the angry women of Angrywomenonia, but couldn't they come up with a better one than that?  How about a holodeck malfunction?  Those are dumb, too, but at least not immediately solvable by one of your main devices.

"Not likely"?  The virus is "not likely" to infect Data?  Good job, Beverly.  That's why you're the doctor.  Because you know that androids "likely" don't contract space flu.
