Monday: last day

This has been a reasonably lazy trip, partially because I'm the only one with dedicated time off.  That's worked out well for me, as I think this means I'll be able to go home ready to finish up the outstanding issues, and ready to solve more problems.

Also ready to eat more ramen!

And maybe ready to draw?  Probably not Baby Beasties, however.

Sunday: A birthday.

Probably one of the most relaxing and enjoyable ones in years.  Too much Some meat for lunch:
Also some vegetables.
Then crashing, napping, watching video games and youtube, some dinner, some shopping, more napping.  A very good day.

Tomorrow is back to "work", though, followed by travel on Tuesday.  Then doctor's appointment on Wednesday, along with possibly moving to a new office/desk.  This week will be busy, I guess is the point.

Saturday: Whoops, I stayed up until 4 again.

And I finished my book, with three days left on this trip.  I was fooled by the baddies, I didn't see one plot twist coming, and my anticipated end played out as I feared.

I cannot wait for the next book in the series.  I have so many unresolved questions that I want answers to.

Finally evolved that jerk.

Austin Night Market.
It was super busy, and none of the booths seemed to be ready for the lines.

Friday: I probably shouldn't have stayed up until 4 reading, but

At least now I know the secret backstory that the book has been keeping, and I have a pretty good idea who the good guys are.  Not bad for there only being ~50 pages left.  The fact that the good guys are who I was hoping they'd be isn't bad either.

Detecting the character that was truly a necromantic construct in their first appearance?  That was a combination of careful reading and dumb luck.

I'm also almost done with this jerk, too.

Thursday: A less effective work day, but lots of food.

Tomorrow I should try harder.
This guy.
Noble Pig is closing, so we tried to go yesterday.  They were sold out, so we tried again today.
It was ridiculously busy.
But once we'd ordered, it didn't take long to get our food.
The namesake sandwich.
 It's a shame that it's closing.

Dinner was more BBQ, with Dan:
I probably shouldn't have eaten this much, but whatever.
Tomorrow is a busy travel day for Julie, which is unfortunate.  Busy travel days are the worst.

Wednesday: An actual work day.

Tomorrow I should go through review comments, and do the fixes and make it work.  It also feels weird that today was the one week point.  I really wish companies were actually working on VR telepresence that was usable.

Most of the work was done at Epoch, where I saw this really nice crow.

Later, Giratina.
And I also had some time to catch that last damn fish and get a regrade in Stardew:
Yeah.  Three donking fish and I'm only 3/4 candles.

And the whole town was happy I finished the community center.

And I got an award.  There was also a fight.

Resulting in Pierre opening his store for every day, as he now owns the product monopoly.

And second place.  Again.

Tuesday: A """Work""" day.

I admittedly could have done more work today.  I got the majority of things I needed to get done done, and will complete the rest tomorrow.  Then, the rest of the week can be additional things/science things/etc.

I also didn't spin a Pokestop, so I might have to start that one quest item over.
I did play a lot of Stardew, so that's nice.

Monday: No school?

I guess it's a day off?  That pushes my schedule of work until tomorrow, which isn't a problem.

I would die if Shake Shack were close to my house.

Curry for dinner with heart rice.

It is possible to get into the same match with someone else.  Julie did better this time.

Sunday, September 22, 2019

Sunday: Very good BBQ.

Me taking a quick photo while Julie carefully lines up hers.

Burnt ends are the best part of the brisket.

Smoked scalloped potatoes.  I would eat this forever.

Forever.

Today was a less successful raid.  Maybe later in the week?
Tomorrow is a telecommute day, although it may not be very work-filled.  I should push that review out to people.

My home computer is also unavailable, so no RSS this week.  And no auto-queuing tumblr posts.  And no easy email.  No ready access to home data files.  I wonder if there was another power outage, and that triggered things to shut down.  :(

Saturday: Travel

With ok airport sushi for breakfast.

And the requisite Pokemon raid.
Dinner was not to be spoken of.

Friday, September 20, 2019

I should be sleeping, but TRAVEL.

Ugh.  Anyway, I discovered that the relationship I thought I'd messed up two and a half weeks ago wasn't.  Also, I should play this game more consistently.

Blah blah someone's trying to kill her.

Blah blah spend time on relationships to achieve a high quality relationship.

If you've promised Odessa that you'll kill someone, and you've promised your half brother that you'll kill that same person, and you've promised a random musician that you'll kill that very same person, you eventually have to actually fulfill that murder to make everyone happy.  This is the "keeping promises" part of a healthy relationship.
It's possible that Odessa was also murdering people, and trying to do some evil-adjacent stuff, but I accidentally killed like 12 people because I stumbled across their campsite.  I don't have lots of room to be throwing judgments around here.  I assume it's best to try to be friendly with people who have names, and if they betray me in the future, I'll probably have a sword, and the combat is set to easy, so I'm not that worried.  This is also an achievement.

If I found the right information, I have found 1/11 of the friends I can make in the game.  Next up seems to be Auxesia.

Friday: I can tell it's time for some time off

A bunch of other people are off or will be off, and I didn't feel super motivated at work, and it'll be good to not have to deal with everything for a week.

I did drop of Rhydon to get some easy "soon to be a raid" coins.

Thursday: This week feels fake, because I'm leaving next week.

Also a lot of people seem to be out?  Whatever.

Neighborhood bunny.

Wednesday, September 18, 2019

Wednesday: Have I mentioned how much I hate giant tickets?

Fourteen pull requests.  Tomorrow I need to find reviewers so I can get it finished next week.  Ugh.

Bird friend.

I forgot that this gen has parallel "starter" monkeys.
It was also fairly cool outside, so I walked to the admin building to get my parking pass and ID card sorted out.
And had an upgrade to a much more convenient lot.

  • That's kind of treason-y, right?
  • Princess Bride.
  • Julie sent these around, which led me to searching through a weird sneaker section of the internet.  These are cool, but I don't know that they're really  $190 cool.  At $100 I would have bought a pair last night.  This sent me to searching to see if there was a similar pair in that range.  That's when I discovered that neoprene is considered some sort of "magic ultra-fashion" material for shoes?  So the only brands that make them are insane fancy brands, which try to suggest that $1000 shoes aren't unreasonable.

Tuesday: Still tired.

Plus, I saw an injured fox on my way home, and that kind of ruined my evening.

I used a lure today.
But none of them were new.

Monday, September 16, 2019

Monday: I don't know why I'm so tired

Yes, yes, too much late night Stardew.  But this feels like more than just that.  We'll see how tomorrow goes.

And given that I already have a major chunk of my next work project done, I can probably take it a little bit easy next week.

Where I can catch more Pokemon like 0506.

And Drug-o-eyes.

Sunday: I remembered why I don't play this game as much as I could

First I got lunch, because I woke up wanting cheese fries.
Then I stopped to get some quick groceries, then ordered even more groceries to be delivered, because I'm a monster.

Then I sat down and played Assassin's Creed for like seven straight hours.

I crashed a funeral.
I crashed...um...someone's private time.

I accidentally swung on a statue of Zeus.
I also stuck to my "let's try not to steal or kill unnecessarily" plan, but then had to kill a bunch of people because when I killed one assassin, that just sent the next assassin out to get me, so I had to kill them too.  Like four assassins in a row.  Then I fought an army, and learned that armies are bigger than one person, so I should not fight an army in the future.

Saturday: Trying new things.

Eh.
The garlic knots were good, because they were covered in garlic.  That's how they should be.  The calzone brought everything down, though.  Way too much ricotta, and way too little everything else.
So that was the big adventure for the day.

Friday, September 13, 2019

Friday: I almost got a thing to work today.

Which would have been nice, as that would have been like 1/5 of the project scheduled to last until December.  Monday, maybe.

Yellowstone.

Thursday, September 12, 2019

Thursday: I could maybe almost get everything done before going to Austin next weekend?

Also: I'm going to Austin next weekend?  That seems a little soon, doesn't it?

Anyway, this guy.

I don't think I've ever seen a background rainbow before.

And I finally got this one.  Do all of the story quests have empty final rounds?

Wednesday, September 11, 2019

Wednesday: Rebase, cleanup, diff, repeat.

But this ticket is nearly done.  Then to make a bunch more, and do something else for a week or so.

Also it was comic book day today, and this was too perfect not to steal.

Tuesday, September 10, 2019

Tuesday: New rule: no playing Stardew until 6am.

Which I wouldn't have had to do if Marnie would have just gone to work one dang day and sold me a stupid chicken.  But nope!  She decided to take two days off, and then go to the Flower Dance, and not sell me anything to put in my stupid empty coop THAT I BUILT LIKE FOUR DAYS AGO, MARNIE.

But yeah, I probably shouldn't play for that long again.

The problem with getting a book delivered is that I now have to decide if I want to read it all right now, or save it for my travel book for when I visit Austin.

  • And I finished my Crunchyroll show, and WTF, Bell's grandfather was actually Zeus in disguise? WTAF?
  • Ellsworth Kelly stamps.  They didn't have any at the post office when I went there to pick up a package today.
  • Some neural nets can be thought of as differential equations, and those can be thought of as classical mechanics.
  • Geometry.
