Monday: New year's Eve

Let's hope it's better.

No, you looked up restaurants on Yelp to see what looked good.

Sunday: wait, Sunday?

Apparently.

This sums up the day pretty well.

Thursday: Tomorrow is a travel day.

I've had this bear since I was little.

Just in case

You have an LG DVD/VCR player, and one of your DVDs happens to not work due to some dumb region coding issue, the solution seems to be:

  1. Press the setup button.
  2. Highlight the "Lock" symbol, but do not enter that submenu.
  3. Press the '0' key seven times.
  4. Select "Yes" when prompted to load the region free player.
Again, just in case this happens to be a thing that comes up.

Wednesday: Boring days are good

I probably could have been more productive than "not really at all," but it's vacation time.

Sunday, December 23, 2018

Sunday: TV made for old people is bad.

It's all "computers are evil" and "argle bargle law" and "crime" and "things no sane person would do."  When my "gang of violent idiots travel through time to defeat monsters and demons" show is more realistic, there are problems.

I ate a bunch of cookies, too.

Saturday, December 22, 2018

Saturday: I've already forgotten what day it is.

Today was cookie making day.  I made cookies, but didn't take any pictures. Maybe tomorrow.

Thursday, December 20, 2018

Thursday: A good end to the working year.

Except I have to rerun a test and do a merge and push.  Probably tomorrow.  But the main thing is that the big ticket I've been fighting to get approved for like a month is through, and I just need to finish it up.

Plus my new issue is already working well.

This guy.

I'm packed, I'm checked in, I have my ride scheduled for tomorrow, I should be fine to go.

Wednesday, December 19, 2018

Wednesday: I'm pretty sure I will get what I wanted done before vacation.

I was able to get the big unknown working today, and that's a good thing.  Tomorrow I can sort out some of the bugs, and make it run better.

We also went to the fancy lunch place for lunch.  It's not bad, but I'm not sure it's significantly better than the not-fancy lunch place.
Ten years ago, I had to drive through very very snowy streets to run errands and transport people to a church.  It was a good thing, and I'd do it again.

Tuesday, December 18, 2018

Tuesday: Another late day

I've mostly sorted out how to do the stuff we've been working on.  I'll proof things tomorrow, and if they're complete, I'll call it done and push it for review.

And I need to try to sort out the remaining issues.  I really want to merge the big ticket I've been working on for months.

I did not lie at all.  I reblogged something on tumblr.

  • I want a cheese ball.  Or a grilled cheese.  Maybe I just want cheese in general.
  • Christmas dragons.
  • This api seems to work with my lightbulbs.  It doesn't seem to be great when the lights are off, but I mostly want to be able to turn them off.

Monday: Morning meeting + working late = :(

I'm tired.
Eleven years ago I had Mexican food.

Sunday, December 16, 2018

Sunday: I'm hungry.

I made two different types of cookies, and didn't take any pictures.  I also went to Target to buy cookie tins, so I can take the cookies in to work.  And I just remembered that tomorrow might be a work-late day, so maybe I should have made croquettes today.  Ugh.

Saturday, December 15, 2018

Saturday: I should be cleaning and doing productive stuff.

Instead, I spent most of the day watching TV and being lazy.  I did go shopping, but every place was crazy busy.
Not the ramen place, luckily.

Although I do think I'm going to make croquettes for this week's "big cooking thing that gets me food to pack for lunches and whatnot."
I also probably should try to get rid of as much stuff in my fridge as possible, since I'm leaving on Friday.
Santa Claus visited my neighborhood, but he made it seem like something was burning down.

Thursday, December 13, 2018

Thursday: Almost done with all my reviews and things for this year.

Which means I should be able to finish up all the things I wanted to for this year this year.  Yay.
So it turns out "winter" is creepy in PKMN Go.

And I was able to beat up two gyms today.
My plan is to make cookies for next week, and I think I got everything I need at Target tonight, except for cocoa.  Donk.

  • This sucks, because Brigitte is who I usually play.  Being able to smash through things and defend has been why I like her.

Wednesday: Leftovers do not make making dinner exciting.

The PvP is out.
If you lose.

If you win.
They cancelled my doctor appointment today, so I have to wait until January.  Which sucks.  But there's not much I can do about it.

Tuesday, December 11, 2018

Tuesday: The crossover is over, I made dinner, and I got a lot accomplished at work today.

And I even made a doctor's appointment for tomorrow?  What?  They have an online thing, and seriously why doesn't everyone have an online thing for everything.  I can accomplish so much more if I can space it out over twenty minutes between fixing bits of code and running tests.  People need to get over "phone calls" as a valid way to do things.

Fudgy brownies are good.

New splash screen.  I assume this is for the PvP stuff.  I didn't see anything today, but I didn't look very hard.

So, does that mean 3 degrees colder, or 3 degrees warmer?

  • I can't get a web based API to work with my new light bulbs, but they accept a complex schedule routine, and I can control them via Google.  So they work for now, but I'll probably have to code up (or find) a snek implementation.
  • Good.
  • I kind of wish this had been done for a larger set of museums.
  • The crossover was very good this year.  Next year is going to be Crisis on Infinite Earths?  WHAT?!?
  • The Legends had an excellent anti-crossover this year, too.  Lampshades all around.

Monday, December 10, 2018

Monday: I could have put chocolate chips in them.

While I was wrapping up work today, I realized that I needed to get an onion to make dinner, and that I kind of didn't want to cook and go to the grocery store this evening.  Because lazy.  That made me think I should get anything else I need from the store at the same time, and realized that I hadn't had brownies in a long time.  Brownies are good.
And only take like 30 minutes if you use the lazy box version.
They're good, and brownie-tastic, but I should have remembered I have chocolate chips in the freezer.

Sunday: Catching up on TV

Since none of my CW shows stopped airing new episodes while I was gone in November.  I think I'm mostly caught up, and just to be sure, I wrote a quick script to scrape the website onto my NAS.  That should make keeping up with things easier when new episodes return.

And I got lunch.

And some essential things from Target.
It was $3.88.  I can use it as a bookend, and bookends cost more than $4.

I probably should have tried to clean up moving boxes some more.  Maybe that'll be a goal for this week: "empty a box of books or something each day".

Saturday, December 8, 2018

Saturday: Board game day.

Which means I didn't do much else today.

Second place.

Also second place.

Friday, December 7, 2018

Friday: Not as productive of a day.

But I think things are still on track for what I want to get done before vacation.

I need to buy vacation stuff, too.

And I'm sleepy, so I think this is it for today.

Thursday, December 6, 2018

Thursday: A productive day.

I solved one problem, got most of the parts I need to solve another into one place, and helped someone else solve one of their problems.  Tomorrow is going to be a lot of reviews and email stuff, I think, but will hopefully leave me able to finish the rest of things next week.

I need to book flights at some point.

I took over the local gym, too.

Wednesday, December 5, 2018

Wednesday: Back to work, but successfully this time.

Today's talk went reasonably well, and then I solved two problems in the "quick and hacky" way, so I can hopefully get proper full solutions by next week.

And then I made lots of taco meat and rice, so I think I'm taking tacos to work tomorrow.

Tuesday, December 4, 2018

Tuesday: Back to work.

There is so much work to do before the end of the year.

Most of the Halloween candy is gone.

Monday, December 3, 2018

Monday: The plan was to get up and do some light work at home.

Instead, I woke up and immediately crashed back to sleep.  It turns out that feeling better and not like my throat is on fire doesn't mean I'm still not sick.  I think I'm not-contagious by tomorrow, so I should be able to return to work and catch up on everything.  And I think I'm presenting on Wednesday, so I should probably figure that out tomorrow as well.

I did get groceries today, so I will have food for this week.  Since I can eat again, I think tacos is going to be the plan.  I have two not-totally-ripe avocados, which will hopefully be good tomorrow.

Also, tumblr is melting down, so that's going to be a fun thing to watch for the rest of the year.  My guess is that they'll back down, because "blowing up a large chunk of daily users" isn't really their main goal.  A quick check shows that all the posts I have that are flagged are paintings and miscellaneous art.  I'm more concerned about the various other people I follow.

Sunday, December 2, 2018

Sunday: And that's how I discovered I have strep throat.

So I guess most CVS now have walk in clinics now?  That's super helpful, because after spending all of last night barely sleeping due to my throat and ears being messed up, I was able to get up and go there to have the friendly neighborhood nurse practitioner tell me that it's probably strep because I passed that test.  It might also be mono, even though I already had that, but I guess it can recur?  She also looked in my throat like five times because it was super swollen shut in a "if this doesn't unswell, you have to go to the emergency room, like, yesterday" kind of way.

That's super fun.

But I got steroids and antibiotics, and I've been taking them as directed today, and it now no longer feels like my entire head is exploding every time I swallow.  That helps the "eating" and "drinking" segments of being alive, which is cool.  The downside is that I can't go to work tomorrow, because I'm still infectious for the first day after I start the drugs.  So Tuesday, I guess.

And I spent a good part of the afternoon doing things like this by falling asleep with my hand on my laptop.

Saturday, December 1, 2018

Saturday: home.

It's been a while.  Also: I'm super sick, and my entire head hurts all the time.  It's pretty horrible.  I tried to stop by the CVS quick clinic thing, but that closes at 5:30.  I got there at 5:38.  :(  I'll try tomorrow.  I could probably do the online thing, but I'm hoping if I go tomorrow I can just pick up medicine to fix things at the same time.

I did get tacos before I left, but my steak wasn't steak.

These sum up their differences.

Friday: heading home tomorrow.

Babysitting was successful, as was housesitting, but I need to get home to my bed and my apartment.  It's been too long. I miss the quiet.

I will miss the first here, though.
And the people, obviously.

Thursday: Babysitting day 3

No adventures today.  Probably for the best.  I was also somewhat more productive at working.  That's always good.

No adventures other than the one to BBQ land.
We almost got BBQ for dinner too, but someone decided they would rather have leftovers and not stop watching TV.  That's fine, as it reduced the fridge clutter a bit.  It also gave me a chance to decide that the thxgvg leftovers are probably not great anymore.  So, tomorrow maybe more BBQ?

And I took over the gym there.

Although no one else was there to help.

This was a quest or something?

Cabins.
